2010 World Summit on Human Rights
Human Rights Elites Come Together to Safeguard Human Rights, Yes I Do!

In recent years, movies and documentaries in the names of environment protections and climate changes, such as “An Inconvenient Truth”, “The Day After Tomorrow”, “Save the Earth”, “Avatar”, “2012”, and subjects relating to human rights like indemnification for frame-up prison, the abolishment of the death sentence, freedom of internetworking, protest of soaring housing costs, turning off lights to save the earth, etc, have been becoming hot topics in the media. Last year, Taiwan passed human rights laws according to “the International Treaty for Citizen Political Rights” and “the International Treaty for Economy, Society, and Culture Rights”. The legislation has shown that the consciousness for human rights in Taiwan is making a big step forward and is catching up with the international trend. April 1 of 2010 is the 9th Anniversary of World Citizen Day in Taiwan. UN NGO, Association of World Citizens together with Tai Ji Men Qigong Academy, the Federation of World Peace and Love, Chinese Association for Human Rights, the Taiwan Law and Policy Research Foundation, the Embassy of the Sao Tome and Principe, Australia World News Weekly, American Humanist Association will jointly sponsor the “2010 World Summit on Human Rights for World Citizen” to appeal for the promotion and public awareness of human rights of world citizens.

The 2010 World Summit on Human Rights for World Citizens– The delegates of the grand assembly are composed of hundreds of members coming from the academic community, human rights groups, government institutions, legislative bodies, enterprises, religions, the bars, and the media. They will publish human rights theses and articles on the four main topics, “respect, law, tax, and environment”. From multiple aspects, law enforcement, taxation, natural environment, medicine, women and children, aboriginals, media, arts and literature, politics, economics, and education, they will appeal to the government, international societies, and every world citizen that they should think highly of the concept of “God-Given Human Rights”. This event has inspired a tremendous response and hundreds of articles have already been submitted to the summit.

The Opening Ceremony – Yes I Do! – The summit also invites ambassadors, government officials, legislators, councilors, heads of cities and counties, high level officials of the media to join the ceremony of activating the “Globe of Human Rights” on behalf of all human beings. This “Globe of Human Rights” symbolizes the Earth, which is giving out strong messages, “Natural Rights Based on the People and Rule of Law”, “Protect Human Rights”, and “Safeguard the Earth”. The honored guests will lead the participants to safeguard human rights with slogan, “Yes I Do!”

Piecing together a World Map of Human Rights – More than twenty representatives from different nations and all the five continents, including the former vice president of the Republic of China, Ana Liu, the Chair of Congress of the Republic of Paraguay, H.E. Cesar Ariel Oviedo Verdun, the Ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay, H.E. Carlos Martinez Ruiz Diaz, and the Ambassador of the Sao Tome and Principe, H.E. Jorge Amado, will jointly piece together a two meter long World Map of Human Rights to symbolize that human rights should be implemented in every corner of the world

Stage Play: “The Tiger's Wish” – Human rights for the youth is also a feature of this summit. The youth will voice their wish with a stage play, where the India tiger, South China tiger, Bangladesh tiger, Sumatra tiger, and a mysterious guest “the scarce animal” will gather together to hold a tiger's summit.
