Conscience Is the Key to Ecosystem Restoration

Two Events in Association with Stockholm+50 Highlight the Importance of Conscience-Driven Actions and Solutions

Stockholm, May 30, 2022 - The United Nations has long advocated for the concept of global sustainable development, but the environment is deteriorating much faster than expected. The Stockholm+50 Conference will take place in Stockholm, Sweden on June 2-3, under the theme of "A healthy planet for the prosperity of all - our responsibility, our opportunity," with government officials and organizations from all over the world gathering in Stockholm for various events in support of Stockholm+50.

Among them are two special events with the theme of "conscience," in association with Stockholm+50. The organizers are the Federation of World Peace and Love (FOWPAL), Association of World Citizens (AWC), and Tai Ji Men Qigong Academy (Tai Ji Men). At the events, influential leaders from various fields will be invited to discuss how to promote conscience education and conscience-based solutions at all levels of society, in order to accelerate positive changes, promote the health of the Earth, and improve the health of people’s inner environment to maintain global peace and stability. The organizers will hold an ancient ceremony of ringing the Bell of World Peace and Love to wish the world peace and global citizens peace, security, and happiness, injecting powerful positive energy into the Earth.

FOWPAL, AWC, and Tai Ji Men have been actively involved in environmental protection. They hosted six conferences on love and peace for a sustainable future during the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2002, where visionary leaders, including the then President of Ethiopia Girma Wolde-Giorgis, rang the Bell of World Peace and Love.

The 2012 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) was held in Rio, Brazil to discuss the challenges and opportunities of sustainable development. During the conference, FOWPAL hosted the ceremony of ringing the Bell of World Peace and Love, and 25 visionary leaders rang the Bell, including the then President of Costa Rica Laura Chinchilla Miranda, President of East Timor and 1996 Nobel Peace Prize laureate José Ramos-Horta, and the then Prime Minister of Bhutan Jigme Thinley.

A special feature of the two events in association with Stockholm+50 will be the solemn ancient ceremony of ringing the Bell of World Peace and Love. During the ceremony, bell ringers, with respect for nature, will send their kind wishes for peace to all life on Earth through the sound of the bell, hoping that everyone will apply their conscience to facilitate ecosystem restoration. To date, 399 visionary leaders from 122 nations, including 43 heads of state and government, have rung the Bell, taken actions to fulfill their wishes for peace, and exerted their positive influences to contribute to global peace and sustainability!

For instance, three bell ringers, President Fradique de Menezes of Sao Tome and Principe (2001-2011), President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal (2000-2012), and President Leonel Fernández of the Dominican Republic (1996-2000 and 2004-2012), rang the bell and made wishes for peace during their tenure and later mediated between neighboring countries to defuse potential wars, fulfilling their promises to help stabilize and sustain the Earth.

FOWPAL, AWC, and Tai Ji Men have visited 101 countries around the world to promote love, peace, and conscience through endorsement campaigns for various declarations and to consolidate the consensus from global citizens for sustainable development. To date, the Declarations for Human Rights of World Citizens and Peace have been endorsed by over 3.7 million people in 176 nations, and a CD with two million signatures was submitted to the UN in 2004; the declarations of conscience have been endorsed by people in 195 nations.

Everyone is welcome to participate in these two events and share their conscientious suggestions and solutions with the world (RSVP: info@icday.org). Everyone is encouraged to share the live stream links widely and invite their friends and family to watch the events to inspire more citizens of the world to take conscience-based actions and solutions to accelerate ecosystem restoration and sustain the Earth!
