Distinguished guests, young friends, ladies and gentlemen, warm greetings to you all!
Today, we celebrate International Youth Day, as designated by the United Nations. It is a time not only to honor the accomplishments of the younger generation, but also to reaffirm our shared commitment to their future—standing shoulder to shoulder with them as they face global challenges such as those related to education, employment, extreme climate events, peace, and sustainability.
The theme for this year’s International Youth Day celebration is “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.” Unbound by the frameworks of the past, young people have boundless potential. With courage and vitality, they reshape entrenched paradigms, bringing hope to the world through their passion and action. Technology and artificial intelligence are advancing at an unprecedented pace, driving rapid innovation across every field. In a world where technological change is advancing far more rapidly than social adaptation, we must recognize that acquiring knowledge through traditional educational models is no longer sufficient to meet the demands of our time. It is an urgent imperative that we advance holistic, conscience-based education—grounded in a vision of global sustainability and dedicated to cultivating physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Such education can empower young people to discern truth from falsehood, right from wrong, and good from bad, guiding them to apply the power of goodness to their academic pursuits, careers, and technological applications, thereby helping to restore balance to a troubled world.
Amid the swift and turbulent currents of global change, how can young people break through stagnation, forge new goals, help steer humanity toward a better future, and guide the world toward a path of peace and sustainability?
As highlighted by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, true progress cannot be measured by economic growth or technological achievement alone; it must also be measured by human well-being, inclusion, justice, and opportunity. These goals remind us that technology alone cannot solve humanity’s greatest challenges and that all development must remain human-centered. The most effective solutions stem from values deeply rooted in the human heart—values that transcend national borders and generations: conscience, love, and peace.
Conscience is the moral compass with which every person is born, guiding us through the fog of a troubled world. It awakens us to uphold moral boundaries and to use technological development to benefit humanity and serve the well-being of all, while discerning the path that will bring the greatest good to ourselves and to humankind as a whole. Conscience leads us to draw upon the wisdom of the heart to make up for the limitations of technology, allowing the wisdom of history and diverse innovation to advance hand in hand, complementing and strengthening one another. Love gives us warmth, acceptance, and a spirit of selfless compassion. It also gives us the courage to put the power of love into action—to embrace a love for the world, unite and cooperate with one another, overcome every obstacle for the sake of what we cherish, and bravely face the storms ahead. Peace is a shared aspiration of all humanity, from generation to generation. Peace requires love, and love requires balance. With conscience, love, and peace, there is hope for the future of our world and all humankind.
In supporting youth affairs, governments should uphold the principles of transparency, integrity, and accountability. Transparency builds trust, while integrity strengthens institutions. Transparency and integrity are fundamental principles of global governance. Through constructive dialogue and attentive listening, public institutions can create space for young people to demonstrate resilience, lead initiatives, and drive social innovation. By fostering a positive political culture for the next generation, we can empower young leaders to uphold conscience and justice and move forward with positive energy toward a future of peace and sustainability.
On this International Youth Day, let us join hands to create a future built on conscience, love, and peace. May every young person have the opportunity to thrive and become a partner in building a better world, nurturing generations of future leaders so that our shared goals for the sustainable development of the Earth and humanity may blossom into beautiful and abundant flowers of peace.
May conscience lead the way, filling the world with love.
