FOWPAL Visits Peaceful Brunei, the 120th Country on Its Global Peace Journey

Dubbed “the Kingdom of Unexpected Treasures” and the stable and prosperous “Abode of Peace,” Brunei will host a major cultural exchange event this August. The Federation of World Peace and Love (FOWPAL), which has visited more than 100 countries and has long been committed to promoting peace, sustainability, and cultural heritage, visits this “Jewel of Southeast Asia” under the leadership of its president, Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze, accompanied by a delegation of over 40 members. Brunei is the 120th nation that FOWPAL has visited on its global peace journey.

Young volunteers from around the world will stage flash mob performances at major landmarks across the nation, presenting pure and heartfelt vocal and martial arts presentations that blend tradition with innovation, along with vibrant dances to engage in cultural exchange with locals and spread positive energy worldwide.

The public will also be invited to endorse three important declarations—the Declaration of International Day of Conscience, the Declaration of World Day of the Power of Hope, and the Declaration of Transparency and Integrity—which aim to promote greater trust, harmony, and prosperity across the globe.

During the visit, the delegation will tour Istana Nurul Iman Palace, the Royal Regalia Museum, the Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, the Billionth Barrel Monument, and Universiti Teknologi Brunei, and will embark on an ecological journey to the Heart of Borneo.

At these culturally and historically significant landmarks, the volunteers will offer blessings to Brunei through performances of The Power of Peace and Love and We Are One World. The Peacock Dance, inspired by mythical peacocks from ancient legends, symbolizes transformation: according to legend, the peacock consumes all poisons and exudes fragrance, representing the conversion of challenges into light and hope and heralding the arrival of an era of peace and prosperity.

Meanwhile, martial arts performances—elevated to the level of artistic expression—will embody the resolution of conflict through wisdom and the dispelling of disputes through compassion. Through this international cultural exchange, FOWPAL volunteers will bring a culture of peace founded on love and conscience to Brunei, offering blessings for lasting peace and sustainability.

Brunei, a nation that has traversed a colonial past and boasts a millennia-old culture, has become one of Southeast Asia’s wealthiest countries, with cradle-to-grave social welfare, favorable weather, and abundant prosperity. The country’s peace and stability are widely regarded as key factors in its success, alongside the blessings from Allah cherished by Brunei’s Muslim population.

In August 1999, Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze announced the vision of “A World of One Heart: A Well-Spring of Happiness” in the United States, expressing his aspiration to spread love and peace worldwide. The following year, he founded FOWPAL, which continues to promote love and peace through the World Leader Summits of Love and Peace, ceremonies of ringing the Bell of World Peace and Love, and international cultural exchanges. These initiatives call on global leaders to exert positive influence, commit to, and prioritize the aspiration for world peace with tangible results.

During the 2004 World Leader Summit of Love and Peace, Ambassador Shofry Abdul Ghafor, Permanent Representative of Brunei Darussalam to the UN, rang FOWPAL’s Bell of World Peace and Love on behalf of Brunei and offered this heartfelt wish: “Let there be peace, understanding, and love amongst nations, amongst peoples, and amongst us. Let us build unity in our diversity.

To date, the Bell of World Peace and Love has been rung by 644 distinguished individuals from 158 countries, including 82 heads of state and government, 15 Nobel Peace Prize laureates, UN ambassadors and officials, and other visionary leaders. Together, they have channeled positive energy from six continents into actions that promote peace, conscience, love, and hope.

After 26 years, Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze presented the vision of “A World of One Heart, Peace, and Sustainability” in Toronto, Canada, and Brunei now marks the 120th nation FOWPAL has visited in advancing the culture of love, peace, and conscience—imbuing this milestone with special significance.
